Cleaning up - Fixing up
Today I rearranged web_dev completely. Although some of the root folders still stand, I cleaned out what I could. This was all of course backed up onto my own machine for now. I’m pretty sure none of this stuff is needed that was deleted and what might be needed was archived in the correct location. This will be an on going process, but I think it’s already easier to navigate around and find psd’s and get to the correct site, without the confusion of having multiple sere, ccb, isse, asp folders under main.
I went live with ‘/centralasia’ and ‘/elnino’ workshops getting moved on CCB to the ‘wkshp’ folder. If this goes smoothly I think I’ll go ahead and move 4 or more folders next time to step up this process a bit.
The docs and images debate has been for the most part settled. So slowly I’m going to start moving these files to the correct folder. Each sub-site or folders will get their own docs and images folders. Unless they are directly part of the main site in which case I’ll most likely sort them into the main images and docs folder from the root level.
I’m still waiting for ISSSE to get approval, but in the mean time I’ve done some re-arranging of the home page by deleting an old workshop and adding some of the upcoming events in addition to the news.
I’ve also gone live with all the print.css files for every site. This makes the web sites much more manageable and useful when printed.
Lastly, I’ve been approved for acquiring flash which means I’ll be capable of doing some more fun stuff on the sites. Mickey is talking about putting up some small video clips of his scientists which will be a great thing to have on our site. A gradual push to a more 2.0 site!
