New Menu

So on Day two I went to a meeting of web developers and I felt a large disconnect on how things are done on each division or lab. There is no agreed upon technology or way of doing things. They seem to want to have the same look and feel with the top menu and maybe there are some other standards they have agreed upon, but I'm not certain on that.
I was told that we have a new menu and I went ahead and implemented it fairly easily on off of my labs except for ASP which is under Scott and needed a little help getting the testing server running right and permission problems. The new menu took a little extra work to get it right on my sites due to some other css settings. I fixed most of the bugs and I also created a ie.css file to fix the ie errors seperately.
I also finished updated the publishers page with tabs for each year. The tabs took a little extra css tinkering due to the amount of tabs there are. I just ended up stacking them so that they are expandable for many years to come.
The last thing I learned in the meeting is that they are looking into implementing a cms, which of course I asked what they are leaning towards and it seemed like Drupal may be the decision. I talked to my boss Stephen and introduced him to Drupal and now I need to start talking to Scot and Djan about implementing Drupal as well. I'm currently researching Joomla and Drupal side by side and for the most part Drupal seems to meet the needs of this company more so than Joomla.
Current projects include:

  • Research Drupal and Joomla and possibly create a mockup site with Drupal that looks like the current site
  • Implement the new top menu for ASP
  • Form a Drupal committee ??
  • CSS Cleanup, I fixed all of the extra spacing but lots of code revamping needed
