So I'm back from two days of security training and I've learned many things that I probably should have known a while ago, but better late than never.

So we had yet another web meeting today and I think that I'm starting to get this site at least organized in a way that makes logical sense to me and everyone else. We decided that we can have all of certain types of sites conform to a single look. Different types being: SERE, ISSE, ASP, CCB, Workshops, Activities, and Staff. All of these pages currently look the way they want to and I'd like to at lease have some uniformity across the board but at the very lease we need all workshops to conform to a single look varying only on maybe a graphic banner and content. The staff pages is a little more tricky to get everyone on board, but today we agreed to have all staff pages follow a single look and the staff members that want their own can further link from this page to their own html pages that are only updated by them or someone they deem capable (ie not me).

So I just sent Steve a little questionnaire for the site to get feedback from everyone else around here on how they feel about the current site. I think that the consensus from everyone in the meeting today is that the current sites are ok and just need certain tweaks here and there. Personally I think this entire site needs to be revamped, but that's a whole different project that probably will be better left for later.

So currently I have a whole lot of things to think about and put together here's a list of things that come to mind right now.

  • Directory Structure (for both the sites and web_dev)
  • Removing the Lab buttons to the right of the scrolling image and placing text links below
  • Going through DJan's list of stuff that she sent back to me for her files
  • Contact someone about how the google search works on the site and maybe ways to more specifically use it for our sites
  • Changes to the Banners on all four sites?
  • Creating a Publications Node
  • Addressing the Staff listing pages (conform to a single layout) and possibly creating a contact form in place of the links
  • Probably lots more!
